Patented technology

There are 2 identical/reciprocal cam-tracks whose profile defines the engine´s cinematic and whose projection forms the main shaft which is hollow and split

The piston-groups’ linear stroke is transformed into rotational movement by their interaction with the cam-tracks and their opposed-piston configuration opens and closes exhaust ports before intake ports and creates uniflow scavenging

In other words, the ideal engine for range extender applications would combine the efficiency and low emissions of a state of the art 4 stroke engine with the simplicity, compacity and power of a 2 stroke one.

INNengine

Variable Compression Ratio

Unlike other VCR engines the e-REX doesn’t need convoluted double crankshaft solutions. In fact, we don’t even have one.

The shifting device, controlled by ECU, governs the axial position of the inner shaft which offsets angularly the cam-tracks, thus dictating both the distribution and the compression ratio on demand.

Multifuel capabilities:

One of the main reasons slowing down the adoption of alternative fuels is the lack of refuelling infrastructure. New customers are reluctant to purchase a hydrogen car if they don’t know if they’ll be able to refuel.

This means there are few H2 cars on the road which in turn makes building new H2 pump stations not economically viable in a vicious circle that negates our ability as a society to transition to cleaner fuels.

Having Variable compression ratio on demand means that for the first time an engine and it’s combustion chamber does not have to be optimised for a particular fuel’s energy release conditions but can be configured to work with many different ones.

Giving customers the possibility of driving clean whenever green e-fuels are available but knowing they have the backup of traditional ones if need be.

More customers mean more demand which will translate into more refuelling points, flipping the situation from a vicious circle to a positive feedback loop to organically expedite the transition to a greener transport.

No, it’s not 2S Engine

Why do we say that our engine is neither a 2 stroke nor a 4 stroke, but a 1 stroke engine instead? We get this question a lot usually followed by some comparison liking it to a 2 stroke engine.

The fact of the matter is that other than having cylinder ports INNengine works nothing like a 2 stroke.

For starters, our combustion chamber has two combustion events per revolution, this is 4x more than a 4S and double the power of a 2S.

We call it 1Stroke because it has none of the emission issues of the 2Stroke. There is no oil in the mix and pressurized lubricated areas are far from the combustion chamber.

There’s also the fact that the piston never works as a pump (sucking air) and Variable Port Timing… and so much more. Check our Youtube channel for more detailed info and updates.
