Our flagship project, the 1S – e-REX is the perfect engine for range extender applications.
70% Lighter & smaller and more powerful than a 2S while more efficient and silent than a 4S, so far we have developed and tested 3 prototypes, the latest one being a 500cc which achieved TRL6 (technology readiness level). Right now, we are actively looking for a strategic partnership in order to fund and power development and industrialisation for the final stage of this project which will be a 700cc coupled directly to a generator with no reduction gear for range extender applications. We will surely have good news on this front soon.
The e-REX’s smaller brother only in size but not in performance. Using the cutting edge technology and state of the art machinery employed in the development of the e-REX we have developed the 1S – RC. Meant for the delight of extreme and high-end hobby enthusiast with a focus on aviation. Our first prototype which has already achieved TRL6 is a gamechanger in the RC world. It’s 21.5hp@6000rpm put it in its own power league.
INNengine’s commitment to fight climate change is clear: the fastest route to reduce carbon emissions is to create better more efficient engines which can run on green fuels.
To that end, INNengine has partnered with GUTMAR S.A., EDAIR Technologies, the CMT of University of Valencia as well as the Centro de Tecnologías Aeronáuticas in order to develop the next generation of Green Hydrogen aeronautical engines.
Its power compacity makes it perfect for H2 and our lightweight&compact yet powerful/vibrationless configuration makes INNengine the perfect candidate for aviation purposes where weight it’s not just another factor but a key one.
1995
When he was only 9 years old, Juan Garrido Requena was taken to a karting course with his brothers. There and then, among speed wheels and screeching breaking sounds an obsession was born: one day he would make his own kart.
1998
To everyone’s surprise and many incredulous smiles, he got right to work. Any money he could make was put to the task. Rusty metal, second hand tools and reclaimed parts were acquired and manufactured turning his parents’ garage into a makeshift workshop. By the age of 12 Juan had designed&built a go-kart from scratch.
2010
Juan went on to study a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. His obsession with engines did not dwindle during his university years but rather grew culminating with the presentation of his Senior Thesis: Garrido Engine: a new Internal Combustion Engine.
2011
Thanks to 2 angel investors, INNengine started like the quintessential start-up: with a group of friends and just a garage. The very same garage where many years before, a 12 year old built his own go-kart from a pile of metal rods.
2012
INNengine was not just a person anymore but a team and their hard work paid off. What started as an absurd idea was now a reality. With only 2 cylinders and 40cc the M40_2C_2R rose to the challenge despite all the compromises that had to be made during its manufacturing.
The very 1st time an INNengine started. Looking back now it’s hard to express how emotional this moment was.
2013
Getting a patent it’s a lot harder and more expensive than you might think, especially in the ICE industry where so much has been said and done. Sometimes it’s tempting to just do it first and foremost, which may end up rendering your idea useless if it develops too far from the original concept.
But with a watertight design and a working prototype we knew we were ready.
Today our patent has been been granted in EU, US, Japan, China, South Korea and in India.
2015
With only 2 cylinders and still having port injection this second prototype was built still using the old equipment which meant it took a lot longer to obtain satisfactory results. After 50h running the engine was disassembled and the main goal which was to prove the physical soundness of the camtracks at higher cc/rpm was achieved setting the stage for new investment and equipment upgrades.
2015
INNengine’s vision kept growing to the point The Garage could not do. The time had come to move to a new headquarters. They say in any startup the CEO is the secretary at the same time, well how about builder too? INNengine’s team left the computer and lathe for the brick and mortar and as always: got to work.
2016
Among other upgrades the real game-changer was the acquisition of a Mazac Integrex i-200s with precision to the tenth of a micron which allowed us to translate our designs into reality with the quality needed. From here on out the only (still many) manufacturing problems we would encounter would be related to the casting process which still we could not do in-house.
2018
The first properly built prototype thanks to the new equipment. Our last generic prototype, this engine did perform a total of 200 hours under various loads in our in-house test bench and many more later on in the test bench at the CMT of University of Valencia. This would be the first of our engines to power a car.
2019
The help, endorsement and expertise of the CMT of Valencia have been invaluable. Today they help us champion the e-REX project, but this was not always the case.
The first time we contacted them and due to understandable scepticism our 500cc engine was installed in a test bench facility designed for motorbike engines. Any reservations the CMT may had had would be completely gone once it became clear the test bench it had been installed on could not handle the 150Nm of torque delivered by our “tiny” prototype.
2019
INNengine in collaboration with Aramco is invited to showcase its technology at the prestigious GIMS 2019.
2020
J.F. Calero was the first one who, like the quality reporter he is, sat down with us and despite loads of reservations and scepticism just listen to what we had to say. Thanks to him now millions have heard of INNengine and the support we have received, especially from the Spanish community has been a real morale booster. Thank you.
2020
INNengine together with the CMT University of Valencia is invited to present its findings at the renowned French IFP School of Engineering. Our revolutionary technology stole the show.
2020
The Centro de Tecnologías Aeronáuticas (CTA) is an aerospace test laboratory specialized in testing for development and certification of aerospace materials, systems and structures. Their know-how has been instrumental in opening the door to a sector where INNengine´s weight advantage is not just another factor, but a crucial one.
2020
At a time when INNengine was close to securing a game-changing strategic partnership the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world with the subsequent lockdowns driving everything to a halt. Months later when things started to reopen the whole landscape had changed.
We just did what we know best: we kept working harder.
2021
The e-REX’s smaller brother only in size but not in performance. Using the cutting edge technology and state of the art machinery employed in the development of the e-REX we have developed the REX-B. Meant for the delight of high-end hobby enthusiast with a focus on aviation. Our first prototype which has already achieved TRL6 is a gamechanger in the RC world.
2021
Peaking 120hp another huge milestone was met and an especially satisfying one for that matter. More than 20 years before a boy had built his own kart in his parent’s garage. That same boy was today driving a car powered by the engine he dreamt during his childhood, invented at university and built and improved thanks to his amazing team.
2021
The year of 2021 is the year that INNengine’s technology left the laboratory for the real world. First, rolling on a car, then flying. Seeing the REX-B in the wild is quite an experience. The fast reactivity, the formula 1 sound, and the raw power make for an unforgettable adventure.
Our journey begun with a 1st prototype which proved the concept and launched our patenting process.
Continued with our 2nd prototype which improved the technology and proved the feasibility of the chosen materials.
And to conclude all this, our 3rd prototype achieved TRL6 perfecting the ports, cooling and lubrication systems and proving we got 4x more power than a 4stroke engine. Today our e-REX patent has been been granted in EU, US, Japan, China and South Korea and India.
Using the same technology we also have also developed a more fun & radical little brother called the REX-B, that we had a successful testing on a RC plane. We are in the process of presenting the patent which should be done by May 2022.
